The capital city of Azerbaijan, Baku, was host to the grand openings of three new Spar stores at the end of 2016, Spar International has announced.
The new locations include Spar Genclik (with a sales space of 853 square metres), Spar Bakikhanov (1,387 square metres) and Spar Akhundov (560 square metres). Each store welcomed more than 1,500 customers, with an average basket spend of $6-$10, on their respective opening days.
Each of the stores boasts a large fresh produce section, a deli counter, traditional fresh-baked breads and freshly-made pizza, as well as a wide range of healthy meals and snacks, the company said.
Spar own-brand products will be available in 12 categories, offering a total of 300 SKUs.
Azerbaijan was the second Caucasus country to join Spar International, with the first store opening in December 2015 in Baku.
