Research carried out on behalf of retailer Co-op's insurance branch has identified the top-ten traits considered deplorable in a neighbour during the Christmas season.
It revealed that 68% of UK citizens consider loud music a major nuisance and 65% would blow a fuse over the neighbours', or their visitors', cars blocking their pavement or driveway.
Additional major grudges involve dogs left alone to bark all day (62%), loud parties (57%), swearing or shouting outside the house (55%), unsupervised children (53%), slamming doors (33%), unsupervised pets crossing boundaries (31%) and BBQ, bonfire or chimney smoke stinking up the washing on the line (28%).
The research also suggested that ignoring your neighbour is the least annoying thing you can do: only 27% of respondents took exception to that.
Caroline Hunter, head of home insurance at Co-op Insurance, commented:"This is the season for goodwill, and by showing a little courtesy it can ensure that you and your neighbours leave 2016 harmoniously and as friends rather than enemies."
She added, "And whilst Christmas is a great time to come together with friends, family and neighbours, sadly many people find themselves alone on Christmas Day - so why not pop round for a cuppa, rather than sending a Christmas card, forging links in the community for years to come."
