One of Topaz' most recently opened service stations, situated at Manor Stone, Ballacolla in Co. Laois, has won a leading international retailer award, the NACS Insight 2015 International Convenience Retailer of the Year Award.
NACS is the Association for Convenience and Fuel Retailers and represents retailers and suppliers worldwide. It’s the second time Topaz has won the award after its site at Cashel won the award in 2011.
This year's competition, which is voted on by suppliers and industry peers, was seen as one of the strongest ever with finalists from countries including Argentina, Norway, the UK and Switzerland, making the win particularly significant.
The site, which also contains a Supermacs outlet and a Papa John's Pizza restaurant, has a striking stone cut appearance and also features Re.Store, Topaz’s exciting new retail food and coffee offering. Topaz has invested €5.5m in the site that employs 65 people in total and services 50,000 motorists who use the M8 daily.
Sean Moriarty, Company Operated Stores Director at Topaz, was "really thrilled for our team at Ballacolla who have worked so hard to make the station the success it is. But this is also a huge vote of confidence for the company as a whole and our exciting new Re.Store concept.
“We are offering customers an unparalleled selection of healthy and wholesome food along with an unprecedented range of quality coffees. Our aim is to make Re.Store a chosen destination for the best coffee and food offering around and we’re very confident that is what Ballacolla and our other sites will become” Moriarty said.
NACS President and CEO Henry Armour said of the winner; “Topaz demonstrates that great, nutritious and healthy foods are meeting today’s shopper needs along with traditional convenience store offers. This is a movement taking shape across the globe, and we are thrilled that companies such as Topaz are leading the way”.
