Advance orders for Christmas turkeys are up 48% year-on-year at Wairose, according to the UK retailer's weekly trading update for the week to 25 October.
In addition, sales of festive nuts are up by 37% compared to the same period last year, an indication that shoppers are preparing for Christmas well in advance.
In addition, with the weather getting colder, sales of prepared fruit and vegetables are up at Waitrose, with sales of stir fries and prepared fruit were up 21% and 18% respectively.
The retailer said that total sales for the week excluding fuel were 1% than last year, impacted by tough comparatives as a result of strong marketing during the equivalent week last year.
