Turkish retail chain ŞOK Marketler has posted a 32% year-on-year growth in net sales revenue to TL 9.9 billion (€1.13 billion) in the first half of its financial year.
The retailer opened 446 new stores in this period, creating employment for around 3,672 people.
The company implemented several measures to ensure the safety of consumers and employees during the pandemic, including the launch of a free of cost home delivery service, CepteŞok (Şok in Pocket).
'Customer-Oriented Business Strategy'
Commenting on the company’s performance, ŞOK Marketler CEO Uğur Demirel, said, “Our customer-oriented business strategy has been the core of our success in this period.
"With this strategy, we continued to open new stores, to provide employment opportunities, and to contribute to the national economy.”
The retail chain now operates around 7,661 stores in the country and employs 33,410 people.
ŞOK Marketler is owned by a consortium led by Gözde Girişim - a Yıldız Holding company.
