American retailer Kroger has announced it intends to create a further 10,000 permanent positions across its supermarket divisions.
It expanded its workforce by 12,000 employees in the last year.
"Kroger's growth trajectory continues to create opportunities for people to advance their careers – and to do that in a fun, team environment with great benefits. We're looking for associates who are passionate about people and food, and who want to make a difference for our customers, communities and each other," said Tim Massa, the group VP of human resources and labour relations.
Over the last eight years, Kroger has created more than 86,000 permanent jobs - not including store expansion-related construction jobs, or mergers. The company operates supermarkets, jewelry stores, pharmacies and production plants across the US, employing around 443,000 people.
The company prides itself on its extensive hiring programmes for army veterans, for instance, ‘Honouring our Heroes’ and ‘100,000 Jobs Mission'. It also supports around 100 food banks across the US and contributes to cancer research and communities.
