Montenegrin grocery retailer Voli has opened a new logistics centre in Podgorica, following an investment of €11.8 million, with help from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Located near the retailer's existing logistics centre, the new facility extends over an area of 16,000 square metres and has a capacity of 21,000 pallets, reports Vijesti.
It has been fitted with the latest equipment, including 38 loading ramps, high quality HTC floors, rack construction, forklifts and the warehouse goods management software.
Retail Expansion
EBRD representative Paul Foley, who is also a member of Voli's board of directors, said that the new centre “will make a big difference for small businesses who will be able to offer their products on the market,” adding that more than 100 trucks will be supplied daily.
Company owner Dragan Bokan said the company has invested more than €22 million over the past 18 months. Recent openings include the first hypermarket in Ulcinj in June, while a premium market was opened in Niksic earlier this month.
He also announced that a new discount store with over 14,000 square metres will be built in the fourth quarter of the year.
