Waitrose has seen an increase of 2.0% in total divisional sales this week, excluding fuel, compared to the same period last year.
Waitrose 1 chilled meats and cakes both performed particularly well, with sales up by 29% and 12% respectively.
A week of mixed weather saw salads, soft fruit and outdoor plants reflecting positive sales during the warmer stage of the week, but hot pies and prepared vegetables experienced double digit growth as a consequence of the cooler autumnal days.
Waitrose's weekend roast offer, which saw the retailer offer 20% off roasting joints at service counters to Waitrose members on Saturdays and Sundays, has seen a sales hike of 50%. Fish sales at service counters were also seen to increase with a rise of 16%.
