Following the appointment of Rob Collins as Waitrose’s managing director, the chain has announced that Ben Stimpson will be made director of retail, RetailGazette.co.uk reports.
Collins will succeed the current head of the company, Mark Price. Stimpton is set to begin in his new position on 27 March.
Of his successor, Collins said, "Ben is a talented individual who has already made a great contribution to the Partnership. He’ll be a terrific retail director and an effective member of the Waitrose management board."
Stimpton comes from the John Lewis Partnership, where he was appointed director of retail operations in 2013.
Sir Charlie Mayfield, its CEO, described Stimpton as having been “a central figure in Waitrose’s management team for a number of years".
He added that, "His strong leadership skills and operational success have ensured that he has been a central part of the board’s thinking on succession planning for some time."
