Waitrose & Partners has announced the appointment of Charlotte di Cello as its new director of trading, effective 18 January 2021.
She succeeds Rupert Thomas, who will leave the partnership at the end of the year after 17 years.
di Cello is an accomplished professional with experience in the retail and grocery sector.
Previously, she served in several roles in trading, finance and strategy teams at Sainsbury’s.
Elsewhere, the upmarket retailer has named Laura Burbedge as its new online director, effective 4 January 2021.
'Pivotal' Roles
Commenting on the new appointments, Waitrose executive director, James Bailey, said, “Both roles are pivotal to the delivery of the Waitrose strategy to ensure we maintain our leading market position on quality, ethics, availability and value for customers.”
Burbedge served as the interim online director since October 2020, the company added.
She was instrumental in the successful growth of Waitrose’s online business this year as the supermarket parted ways with Ocado.
