Waitrose has launched a new television advertisement to draw attention to the ‘Pick Your Own Offers’ component of its MyWaitrose loyalty system, which allows people to select ten products to put a 20 per cent discount on, TheGuardian.com reports.
Typically in January, the grocer runs a general brand campaign, but the emphasis on the discount element of the MyWaitrose plan is thought to be an effort to win back market share from Lidl and Aldi after a disappointing Christmas for Waitrose.
The advertisement, created by adam&eveDDB, features the 1949 song, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (I Love You).
Rupert Thomas, director of marketing at Waitrose, said, “The idea of saving regularly really appeals to shoppers, with many choosing items that they usually buy every week to generate ongoing savings. Along with Brand Price Match and our other promotions, Pick Your Own Offers shows we offer exceptional value for great quality products.”
