UK retailer Waitrose has reported a total sales growth, excluding fuel, of 0.5% last week compared to the same period in 2016.
The company noted that despite mixed weather conditions, foods traditionally associated with al fresco dining increased in sales. Quiche sales were up by 25%, fresh dips by 10%, dressed salads by 11%, and prepared fruits were up 9%.
Good weather conditions have continuously increased Waitrose's sales figures throughout the month of June. The previous week saw sales grow by 6.1%.

Waitrose also saw its food to go range increase in popularity, with snacking fruit sales growing by almost 25%, while sandwiches and ready-to-eat salads experienced an increase of more than 6%.
The retailer notes that beers, wines, and spirits had a strong performance last week, with sales growing overall by almost 10%. The increasing popularity of gin was reflected in sales, which were up by 42%, while Pimm’s sales were up by 70% and rosé by 44%.
