UK retailer Waitrose has announced that sales last week, excluding fuel, increased by 2.1% compared to the same period last year.
The retailer said that its activity was focused on a national press and outdoor advertising campaign, which highlighted a 25% discount on all Waitrose 1 products.
Waitrose 1 is the supermarket's premium private label range, which was launched last year and features over 700 products. The retailer noted that sales of Waitrose 1 cakes rose by 107% last week, thanks to its promotional scheme.
Continued Expansion
Last week Waitrose also opened a new store in the 'Addlestone One' development in Runnymede, Surrey. The convenience store will feature a range of over 10,000 products, and brings Waitrose's total number of stores in the UK to 355.
