Helen Weir will remain at the helm of Marks & Spencer’s e-commerce division for another eight months, following the decision by Laura Wade-Gery to extend her maternity leave to a full year, theguardian.com reports.
Weir is the UK retailer’s chief financial officer, and has been filling in for Wade-Gery since September of this year (2015). Both will return to their positions on 1 September 2016.
M&S notified the FTSE 100 of the planned absence of Wade-Gery in August.
It has been suggested that the grocer’s CEO, Mark Bolland, will eventually be succeeded by her, with a poor Christmas perhaps acting as a catalyst for the transition.
