Russia's X5 Launches Academy To Develop Homegrown Talents For Pyaterochka

X5 Retail Group has announced the launch of its first educational project.

The Russian group wants to ensure that it has enough new management to sustain its rapid growth, with both its revenue and store number doubling over the past three years.

A few days ago, it announced the opening of its 1,500th Pyaterochka store in the Moscow region.

To support its growth, X5 wants to enrol 800 employees from its commercial divisions to take part in various programmes with the aim of 'nurturing a category management culture across the Company'.

This comes a few weeks after X5 announced a restructuring of Pyaterochka's management structure. CEO Igor Shekhterman stressed at the time the crucial importance of the growth of its management staff, “The growth of our team is another important priority, and the updated organisational structure provides ample opportunities for members of the company's talent pool, who were our key candidates in selecting macro-regional senior managers.

"All of the newly appointed managers have been sourced from our internal talent pipeline, testifying to the strength and great potential of our team.”

The launch of its Academy is therefore a way for X5 to amplify that movement and support the growth of the group.
