Russian retailer X5 has opened its 7,500th store in Russia as the group celebrates its 10th year in operation in the country.
The store, under its supermarket banner Pyaterochka, is located in Lipetsk and is also the group's 1,000th store with the Central-Chernozemny Division.
The 460 square-metre store is part of the new Pyaterochka concept launched in October 2013. It offers more than 3,500 SKUs with over 35 per cent of items classified as fresh produce.
As part of its large-scale store refurbishment programme, X5 focuses on developing cooperation with local suppliers, whose produce accounts for over 25 per cent of Pyaterochka’s offering in the regions covered by the Central-Chernozemny Division.
To date, the chain has upgraded and rebranded more than 5,000 stores. In 2016, Pyaterochka plans to open approximately 300 new stores within the Central-Chernozemny Division.
