Russian retailer X5 Retail Group has announced the launch of its first Pyaterochka store in the autonomous Yamal-Nenets region. The store opened in Purpe, in the Purovsky District.
This opening falls in line with X5’s progression into Russia’s eastern markets. The retailer said that the ‘social and demographic environment, as well as X5's logistics infrastructure, could support the opening of another 80 to 90 stores in the region’.
Store Features
The new Pyaterochka store has floor space exceeding 650 square meters. There is a hairdresser by the checkout zone, and a flower shop. The store offers more than 3,600 SKUs, including locally made baked goods and dairy products from the Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions.
The store will employ 11 local staff, all trained in X5’s training centre, where they learned how to handle food goods, monitor product and service quality, and use electronic devices and software for ordering and selling goods.
X5 recently announced that it posted a 26.5% increase in year-on-year revenue in the first quarter of this year, on the back of strong like-for-like sales and its activities in expanding its selling space.
