Russian retailer X5 Retail Group has announced the opening of its 9,000th store in Russia. The store is a new Pyaterochka supermarket, located in Sochi.
The store has a retail area of over 400 square metres and conforms to the new Pyaterochka concept, which is operated in 56 regions of Russia.
It offers a product-mix of around 3,900 products, with local products accounting for over 28% of the assortment and up to 90% for some product categories.
Igor Shekhterman, CEO of X5, commented: "Opening the 9,000th store is an important milestone on the way to the strategic goal of doubling our market share by 2020. Since the start of the year, we have opened nearly 2,000 stores, setting industry records both by the number of added stores and by the total retail space added. We are happy to open our landmark store in Sochi, one of the most prominent cities in the south of Russia."
