Dutch dairy giant Royal FrieslandCampina NV has announced that it has acquired Jana Foods, a US-based importer and distributor of cheese.
Financial details about the deal have not been disclosed. Jana Foods will be integrated in the US business of the company’s consumer dairy section.
The former owner and CEO of Jana Foods, Dan Lynch, will remain involved in the business as the senior commercial advisor and vice-president for imports, the company reported.
Business Expansion
The acquisition will help the dairy giant to strengthen its position in the US by offering more products in the speciality cheese category.
Jana Foods has been involved in a strategic partnership with FrieslandCampina for years.
It has strengthened the brand’s presence in the US by importing and marketing Dutch cheese in the United States, including the Kroon and Gayo Azul cheese brands.
Jana Foods also imports and distributes fine cheese from the UK, Denmark, Australia, Ireland and other countries.
