Sicilian-based grocery chain Prezzemolo & Vitale has opened its first store in London, located in the Mercato Metropolitano food market, near Elephant & Castle.
The family-run business of Palermo brings UK consumers Sicilian products of excellence, along with delicatessen items such as cheese, pasta, meat, and fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as international items.
The Italian retailer also organises wine tastings with a sommelier, cooking demonstrations with the recipes of the day, appetizers and more.
In Italy, Prezzemolo & Vitale has a total of six supermarkets, all located in Palermo.
The Italian food market in London, modelled on a similar one in Turin, spans 4,000 square metres and is currently in the pre-opening phase, with the official opening planned for September.
The venue includes a bakery, fishmonger, butcher, coffee roaster, artisanal beer-makers, a cheese counter, specialist charcuterie, and a pasta- and pizza-maker.
The store is open seven days a week.
