Portuguese retail group Sonae MC has announced that it has established its first headquarters in Madrid, Spain, which will employ more than 400 people by early 2019.
Spain is already Sonae’s main international market, and the retailer said the new headquarters reinforces the group’s position in the country.
Better Conditions
The 'iconic' building was erected in 2008 and will provide better conditions for current staff, as well as improving the attractiveness of the offer when recruiting future employees. It will also maintain the commitment to growth in the country, the company said.
The seven-storey headquarters encompasses 6,758 square meters. It will host more than 400 employees, including those of the Worten, Zippy, Losan, Salsa, S21Sec, WeDo Technologies, Sonae Sierra and Sonae Arauco divisions.
Besides the appeal of the architectural elements of the building, its BREEAM certification also corresponds to Sonae’s commitment to sustainability, the company said. The BREEAM seal is a guarantee that the building’s performance has a reduced environmental impact, generating low CO2 emissions.
At the same time, it offers more comfort through air quality and lighting level controls. Staff can also avail of a variety of common spaces, both inside and outside the building.
Sonae recently announced that its turnover increased by 5.3%, like-for-like, in the first quarter of 2018 to €940 million.
