Spar Russia has signed a new licensing agreement, which will see the retailer expand into the southern federal district of Astrakhan.
The first Spar supermarket in Astrakhan was launched at the end of 2017, and a further 30 Spar stores are planned to open in the region before the end of 2019.
The new store offers around 3,500 SKUs, including a selection of European products that are not available in other stores in the city. It also features a large food-to-go range and a cafe.
Expansion Plans
"Our new Spar Partner in Astrakhan is determined to expand the Spar network," said Sergey Loktev, managing director of Spar Russia.
"We have invested in the training of new specialists and the modernisation of logistics and trade processes. In the coming months, we expect the opening of several new supermarkets in Astrakhan.”
The first Spar store in Russia was opened in 2001, and the retailer now operates more than 400 stores across the country.
