German retailer Edeka has revived its popular ‘Supergeil’ commercials to promote its latest marketing campaign, ‘Supergeile Preise’ (super-cool prices).
The Supergeil campaign, which stars German entertainer Friedrich Liechtenstein, first appeared in 2014, and quickly became a viral hit around the world.
Liechtenstein returns as the face of the new campaign, which sees the singer wander around an Edeka store with a red paintbrush, crossing out the prices of several products in favour of ‘Supergeil’ offers.
The commercial was launched this week on the Edeka Facebook page.
According to the company, the premise behind the campaign is simple - after a somewhat intoxicating New Year’s celebrations, Liechtenstein’s wallet is empty, leading to the logical consequence: "I must probably advertise again".
The campaign will be supported by prize giveaways on traditional and social media channels throughout January.
