Adriatic Group Seals Deal For Austrian Ethnic Food Distributor

Vienna-based Adriatic Group has taken over Austrian company Brajlovi?, in a deal that makes it the largest distributor of food from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia in the German and Austrian markets.

In addition to Brajlovic, Adriatic Group has also become the majority owner of Stuttgart-based company Natura and Brams, based in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

The primary activity of the Brajlovi? company is the production of meat products in the traditional way in their own plant located in Vienna. The facility can produce 15 tons of meat-based products on daily basis, beef, veal and poultry meat products. Its products are sold in all the major supermarket chains in Austria and in another 14 European countries.

Natura is a logistics company that distributes food products to over 1,500 points of sale throughout Germany (mainly Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Berlin and Hamburg). It also produces and sells pickles, chutney and jam under its own brand name.

For its part, Sarajevo-based Brams is responsible for the distribution of products from renowned Bosnian food producers in the EU. Since 2010, the company also produces and processes pickles.

Commenting on the new deals, the director of Adriatic Group, Amir Beki?, said that one of the company's goals short term goals is to expand distribution to the Benelux countries and the United Kingdom.

Adriatic Group distributes food from the Western Balkans in the EU area, with products being sold in large supermarket chains such as Billa, Penny, Mercury, Spar, Metro, Zielpunkt in Austria and Kaufland and Real in Germany. Special attention is paid to the "ethnic market" - private supermarkets specializing in food imported from the region, Turkey and Arab countries.
