Ahold Delhaize has said that its new state-of-the-art automated warehouse in Zandaam, the Netherlands, is on track to open early in 2019.
The retailer posted a video of the new fully-automated distribution centre on its website earlier this week, illustrating the process by which goods pass through the system.
According to Ahold Delhaize, the facility mechanises the entire assortment of non-perishable goods, and features a high-rise storeroom with space for 9,000 pallets, smart software, a team of robots and a network of 8.5 kilometres of conveyor belts connecting the entire facility.
Larger Facility
The centre boasts 50% more space than the group’s existing distribution hub in Zandaam.
The building is partially developed from recycled materials, and is equipped with 6,300 solar panels on its roof, to power the facility.
