Aldi Süd Pledges Long Term Sponsorship Of Education Programme

Aldi Süd has announced its commitment to a long-term sponsorship of the ‘AckerSchule’ (FieldSchool) education programme, in the south and west of Germany.

Aldi Süd has pledged to support the educational programme for a period of three years, investing around €300,000. The programme was developed by non-profit organisation Ackerdemia.

Through the 'AckerSchule' young people in Germany can learn about the cultivation and harvesting of fruit and vegetables, and about nutrition and marketing, in the space of an ‘AckerJahres’ (FieldYear), by growing their own produce. Around 50 schools and 2,000 students have taken part in the initiative so far.

"We are delighted that children and young people can develop a connection with food and its cultivation through the ‘field schools’, and strengthen their social skills and personality at the same time," added Kirsten Geß, director of communication at Aldi Süd.

She added that the AckerSchule also contributed to creating a more eco-conscious next generation of consumers.
