Online retail giant Amazon is reportedly taking legal action against its former vice president of operations after the supply chain executive took up a new role at discount retailer Target.
According to Reuters.com, Amazon is claiming that its former employee, Arthur Valdez, is in violation of the terms of the non-competition agreement he signed when he started in Amazon, some 16 years ago.
Valdez, the claim says, was privy to confidential information about the company's supply chain technologies and the contract he signed enforced an 18-month "time out" period before he moved to a competitor.
In a statement, a Target spokesperson defended the US retailer. "We have taken significant precautions to ensure that any proprietary information remains confidential and we believe this suit is without merit."
