Arla Drivers Strike to Disrupt Milk Deliveries

It's being reported that Arla Foods milk deliveries to supermarkets in the northern UK could be disrupted over Easter.

According to foodmanufacture.co.uk, trade unions GMB and Unite the Union have warned of a three day strike, due to commence on Wednesday 1 April.

Deliveries to retailers such as Aldi, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons could also be hit as a result of the strike, unless the row is resolved.

Some 98 per cent of Arla drivers voted for strike action over grievances related to  pensions and holiday pay,

Foodmanufacture.co.uk spoke to GMB regional officer Rachel Dix, who acknowledged that progress has been made towards resolving the row but complained that Arla stood in the way of a final resolution.

"The fly in the ointment is Arla" said Dix. "Our members feel like they have been short changed by their former employer over past underpayments in holiday pay and by the company not committing to past agreements that they should have transferred to Morgan.
