Italian organic food producer and retailer EcorNaturaSì is building the largest organic food logistics hub in Italy.
Based in Bologna’s Interporto area, the hub will serve central and southern Italy. The company has acquired land to build a new warehouse complex with about 40,000 square metres of space.
The president of EcorNaturaSì, Fabio Brescacin, told daily Il Sole 24 Ore that the company has so far invested €40 million in the project, which should be completed by September.
The company’s existing distribution centre of 18,000 square metres, situated in Vendemiano near Treviso, is close to saturation. In the future, it will continue to serve Northeast Italy and become a platform for expansion in Slovenia, Croatia and Eastern Europe.
According to Brescacin, EcorNaturaSì plans to open 15 new stores this year and invest €15 million in new supermarkets and upgrading of existing ones.
Treviso-based EcorNaturasì has 240 NaturaSì supermarkets and about 250 franchised Cuorebio shops in Italy. It also has its own private label brand, specifically designed for supermarkets selling organic and natural products.
