Bon Preu Group Invests €35 Million In Fresh Produce Logistics

Catalonia-based retailer Bon Preu Group has said that it expects to double its sales with the opening of a new warehouse for fresh produce at its existing logistics facility in Balenyà (Barcelona). According to revistainforetail.com, the group will invest €35 million in development of this facility.

The works have already begun and are planned to go on for a year. Plans include the hiring of 200 new workers that will join the current 300 employers at the plant.

A new chilled storage area for fresh products at the facility will cover 22,800 square metres and will be 11 metres high. Half of the warehouse will be allocated for meat and dairy, where the temperature will be regulated at two degrees.

This investment will allow Bon Preu Group to grow its fresh produce portfolio catalogue from 2,000 to 3,000 products.
