Booker is now the UK's biggest wholesaler in terms of turnover, according to a new report.
The ‘Big 30 Wholesalers’ report, published by The Grocer magazine, has reported sales of £4.7 billion for Booker, which acquired Makro UK in 2014 in a £140 million deal.
Booker overtakes Palmer & Harvey, which places second in the report, with a £4.2 billion turnover, with Brakes ranking third (£3.0 billion) and Bestway ranking fourth (£2.4 billion).
Total turnover in the wholesale industry is up by 4.5% to £28.6 billion, across the leading 30 players in the market. 20 of the leading 30 wholesalers reported sales growth last year.
