Booker Group, the UK’s largest food wholesaler, saw group non-tobacco sales rise 4.8% in the third quarter of the year, the 16 weeks to 30 December last.
Like-for-like non-tobacco sales were up 5.1%. Group tobacco sales declined by 1.3% with tobacco like-for-likes down 1.0%, it noted.
"Booker Group continues to make good progress,” commented Charles Wilson, Booker chief executive. “Our plans to Focus, Drive and Broaden Booker Group are on track.”
Its convenience retail arm, which includes the Premier, Budgens and Londis brands are ‘performing well’, the group noted.
“Budgens and Londis are making a solid contribution to the Group,” Wilson added. “We continue to help our retail, catering and small business customers prosper through improving our choice, prices and service."
