Spanish retailer Caprabo has announced that its new logistics centre in the ZAL Port of El Prat de Llobregat in Barcelona has obtained the LEED Gold certification - a globally recognised sustainability certificate.
The facility was designed to meet environmental quality standards required for the LEED Gold certification.
Logistics Director at Caprabo, Asier Bustinza, explained, "The certification is the culmination of a project that we started at the end of 2018 and it has met all the deadlines, despite the circumstances of a COVID-19 pandemic.
"With this distribution centre, Caprabo gains competitiveness, adapts to changes in the environment and adapts its offer to new consumer needs."
Highlights
The facility is equipped to generate photovoltaic energy and hot water, and reduce water consumption.
It also features consumption monitoring systems, ecological refrigerants, gardens with native plant species and recycling of materials used in their construction.
