Carrefour España has announced that XPO Logistics has been selected to look after its online non-food store, Carrefour Online, for the Spanish market.
Based at its new logistics centre in Yunquera de Henares, Spain, with a capacity of over 14,000 square metres, XPO Logistics will initially create 80 direct jobs, with that number expected to double over the next three years, according to SHD Logistics.
The company will manage a logistic model designed specifically for Carrefour Online, based on a traceability system and a multi-reference product-management process.
Rui Marques, XPO Logistics' managing director for logistics solutions (Iberia), said, "This system enables real-time management of an extensive catalogue of products with rapid fulfilment, from the placement of the order to its availability to the end customer. This, together with semi-automated packaging lines, operational flexibility and process reliability, will give Carrefour Online’s customers complete confidence that they will receive the order at the right time and in perfect condition.”
