Carrefour has announced the launch of its third international food collection campaign with support from The Global Food Banking Network and the European Food Bank Federation.
The project will run for just under two months across 10 countries. Beginning in Taiwan, collections will then get under way in Romania, France, Italy, Argentina and China in November. The campaign will then run in Carrefour Poland, Carrefour Brazil and Carrefour Belgium during the month of December.
Teams from 2,000 stores will be involved in the project, and employees, customers and volunteers will be pulling together their resources and focusing on helping the world’s poorest people.
Last year's initiative saw 42 million meals donated and then redistributed to local food banks. To date, Carrefour has funded the purchase of 215 facilities for the food banks throughout the world and is very much involved in optimising the way in which warehouses are managed and orders prepared.
