Carrefour has received its first LEED Gold award in Spain for its logistics facility in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid).
The LEED certificate rates buildings in terms of their sustainability. LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and the award is presented by the Green Building Council of the United States, an independent non-profit association which promotes the implementation of best practices for design excellence and sustainability.
Carrefour's Madrid facility specialises in the chilled and frozen categories, and was developed to high quality standards and sustainability principles. It employs 300 people and serves 235 shops.
