Carrefour’s expansion into Asia has been furthered by the construction of a new logistical hub in Tianjin, north China, straitstimes.com reports.
Beyond the city, the North Western Distribution Centre will supply products to Carrefour hypermarkets in Hebei, Beijing, Shanxi and Shangdong. 40 stores will receive goods from it, and it will transfer these from over 300 suppliers across China.
The facility was created in conjunction with the logistics firm YCH, which will manage its operations. The plant occupies four square kilometres of ground.
YCH has also been contracted by Carrefour to run its Western Distribution Centre in Chengdu.
