Carrefour Romania has announced that it has launched a major nationwide programme to support sustainable agriculture.
The programme aims to make it easier for producers to approach organic certification bodies, support them in dealing with local authorities, and help them in getting access to public financing.
The Programme
The five-year programme comprises three sections, including direct support to farmers for implementing sustainable farming practices in their farms.
It also seeks to build a coalition of stakeholders for the development of sustainable organic agriculture.
Finally, it aims to engage media and influencers to promote the benefits of bio-farming in the country.
Bio Certification
Romanian farmers, who are interested in acquiring 'bio' certification, are eligible to apply for the programme.
The retailer has developed an online platform to simplify the registration process.
Farmers can also apply directly in Carrefour hypermarkets.
