Russian meat producer Cherkizovo Group has announced that it has started exporting poultry to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The first shipment, comprising 54 tonnes of frozen chicken breast fillets for the HoReCa industry, was shipped from the port of Novorossiysk in February of this year.
The poultry was sourced from the Vasilyevskaya farm in the Penza region in Russia.
Certified Farm
The Vasilyevskaya farm, one of Cherkizovo's key export-oriented facilities, has been certified for using vegetable feed in poultry rearing and implementing manual slaughtering.
The company ensures that the meat products met the requirements to qualify as 'halal', which is mandatory for all meat suppliers to the Middle Eastern markets.
The company believes that the first shipment to the UAE will allow it to establish an initial foothold in the region.
In the future, Cherkizovo Group aims to expand its market to retailers and HoReCa customers in other Gulf countries, it said.
