Italian cooperative Conserve Italia has set up a new subsidiary in the USA with the goal of strengthening its export share in the local market.
The Hoboken-based Conserve Italia USA Corporation will be headed by Pier Paolo Rosetti in the role of president and two directors, Cesare Concilio and Diego Pariotti.
The first distribution agreement, for the marketing of Cirio tomato products, has been signed with Walmart.
According to Pier Paolo Rosetti, General Manager of Conserve Italia and president of Conserve Italia USA, Cirio products will be present in about 30% of Walmart stores in the US.
Conserve Italia consortium consists of 49 cooperatives in the field of food processing, which includes 14,000 agricultural producers, who together produce 600,000 tons of fruit, tomatoes and vegetables that are processed in 12 factories. The total aggregate turnover of Conserve Italia Group is €900 million.
Besides Italy and the US, the consortium’s main markets are the EU, Australia, Japan and South America.
