For the fourth consecutive time, Coop Switzerland has been awarded first place in the so-called Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW).
In particular, Coop was praised for its clear strategy based on the welfare of animals and the consistent application of effective measures.
For this reason and due to the high base standards, as well as the rich assortment of bio and innovative projects, Coop Switzerland placed first among 99 international food retailers in the BBFAW ranking.
For the past 25 years, Coop’s Naturafarm animal welfare program has been considered as exemplary, not only in Switzerland, but also internationally.
In Switzerland, about 78% of Coop’s chicken meat is domestically-produced and fulfils the requirements of the Swiss animal welfare program (SSRA). Coop also applies the same standard to imported fresh chicken meat.
Also, 100% of pork meat, 99.6% of veal, 80% of beef, 94% of eggs and 69% of cheese in Coop stores are of Swiss origin.
