Croatia-based consumer goods distributor Orbico Group has signed an agreement with Poland’s Żywiec Group to purchase 80 per cent of beer, spirits and wine distributor Distribev.
Orbico will purchase Distribev, which serves the traditional trade and HoReCa market, from Żywiec Group’s subsidiary Distribev Holding.
Żywiec Group is one of the leading brewers in Poland with a portfolio of 31 products under 15 brands and 11 different styles.
The flagship brand is Żywiec. a premium segment leader in Poland and a popular export beer sold overseas for over 100 years. Other popular brands include Warka, Tatra, Królewskie, Leżajsk and Specjal.
Żywiec Group also distributes international brands Desperados, Paulaner as well as Strongbow cider.
The conditional agreement is subject to and will become effective upon the approval of Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKIK).
Although no financial details were released, according to Croatian media reports, the deal is worth around €40 million.
