German logistics company Dachser has become the majority shareholder of its partner in Ireland, Johnston Logistics Ltd.
“Ireland’s tremendous economic growth makes it a key logistics region," said Wolfgang Reinel, managing director of European logistics for North-Central Europe at Dascher. "This purchase allows us to offer our customers the entire range of high-quality services that Dachser is renowned for.”
The two companies entered into partnership in 2007, and this new acquisition will see Albert Johnston remain as a shareholder and managing director of Dachser's operations in Ireland.
Investment
Johnston Logistics currently has three locations in Ireland and operates a network across the country and the UK. It employs 150 people and generated €24 million in revenue in 2016.
“In Johnston Logistics, we’ve acquired a well-established family company that we’ve worked with and trusted for a long time, and we see this investment as an exciting opportunity to further enhance our all-important European network,” said Michael Schilling, the COO of road logistics at Dachser.
“Our customers in Ireland benefit from uniform services and quality standards, fixed transit times, and a tightly meshed network of Dachser branch offices throughout Europe.”
