Dansk Supermarked Invests In Fish Company Skagenfood

Dansk Supermarked Group has signed a partnership deal with seafood company Skagenfood, which delivers meal boxes to customers.

The Danish retailer's investment will allow Skagenfood to expand its business and reach more 'quality conscious customers'. The new strategic partnership includes logistics and marketing.

Skagenfood delivers fresh fish and other products directly to customers' homes. Based on subscription sales, the company creates and ships meal boxes that include all the raw ingredients to create a complete dinner.

Clear Ambitions

“We are proud of the goals we have achieved with Skagenfood so far. But we also have clear ambitions to develop the company further,” said Betina Kühn, who founded Skagenfood with her husband Peter Bagge-Nielsen.

The couple will continue to run the business and be in charge of day-to-day operations. Dansk Supermaked’s investment will also not affect the company's location in Northern Jutland, where the fresh fish and other products are purchased, packed and sent to customers.

“With Dansk Supermarked Group, we found a partner that enables us to develop the company while maintaining its base and identity, which has always been our strength. We are looking forward to growing here in Northern Jutland, for the benefit of consumers throughout the country,” she added.

Growth Potential

For Dansk Supermarked Group, the partnership with Skagenfood is a strategic investment with a well-established business in a continuously growing market.

“We see a big growth potential for Skagenfood’s meal boxes that make everyday life easier for the Danes. Skagenfood is a very well run company with high quality products and strong values that need to be continued,” said Per Bank, CEO of Dansk Supermarked Group.

“We are confident that through our investment, we can increase the company’s great potential on the market.”
