Dixy Group Expands Delivery Fleet

Russian retail group Dixy has added 36 new delivery truck units to its fleet for its product deliveries as well as transporting imports from Russian ports.

The Iveco Stralis Hi-Road AT440S have a 20-tonne capacity and will complement Dixy’s already over 1,000 vehicle arsenal, with loading capacities ranging from five to 20 tonnes.

The trucks are located at seven distribution centres in the Central Federal District, South-West Federal District, South Federal District, and at three cross-docking sites, according to the retail group.

Sales And Supply

The group acquired the new trucks in order to meet the development of its sales in regions and optimise its supply expenses, it said. The company added that it has established import transportation from the ports of Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg to ensure supply of fresh and high-quality production to its stores.

The new lot of trucks has a range of technical advantages for commercial use, including full adaptation for use in Russia, aerodynamic characteristics and a motor of the fifth Emission Class with a 420 horse power capacity, according to Dixy.

The truck is distinguished for its undercarriage reliability and providing a comfortable environment for the driver: it is equipped with an air conditioner, a modern audio system with a control panel on the steering wheel, Bluetooth, two truck sleepers with an automatic climate control system and an electrical hatch, according to the retailer.

Larger Needs

“Our own fleet of vehicles gives us an opportunity to ensure a high-quality supply chain: the number of outsourced commercial vehicles that the market can provide is not enough to satisfy the needs of a large retailer,” said Pavel Grishin, director of transport administration of Dixy’s logistics department.

“At the same time, own transport stands out for its higher quality,” Grishin said, adding that the company’s regular oversight of maintenance operations reduces the risk of damage and accidents and ensures on-time delivery of products for stores and Dixy’s customers.
