Pizza and baking products manufacturer Dr Oetker has announced the takeover of Grupo Rexal, based in Monterrey, Mexico, which is a leading producer of baking soda and syrup in Latin America.
Grupo Rexal, which was founded in 1930, produces products such as Rexal brand baking soda, and syrup under the brand Promesa. It employs 115 people.
Market Presence
"We are very pleased that we can strengthen our market presence in Mexico with the acquisition of a successful family business," said Richard Oetker, President and CEO of Dr Oetker. "The products of Grupo Rexal complement our portfolio perfectly and fit particularly with both our strategy and our own core competences."
The transaction was completed on 1 June.
It's not the first time that Dr Oetker entered the Mexican market - in 2015, the business took over dessert manufacturer D'Gari.
As well as Mexico, Dr Oetker operates production and distribution operations in 40 countries, in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
