Dutch Retailer Jumbo Keeps Sustainable Plant Certification

Dutch retailer Jumbo has announced that it has managed to keep the 'Florimark GTP' sustainable certification for its Plants and Flowers department, despite this year's new, more stringent criteria.

The department achieved a flawless score for its sustainable and responsible practice in areas including fair trade, quality control, accountability regarding the origin of the produce and management of the supply chain.

The Florimark GTP certificate is issued by MPS, which is an international organisation for quality-control and certification in sustainable horticulture.

"We are proud to have obtained the Florimark GTP certification this year - particularly because we managed to pass the test again with flying colours, despite MPS having tightened the requirements.

"Our 100% score goes to show that Jumbo's flowers and plants are cultivated with quality, people and the environment in mind,” said Ed van de Weerd, commercial director of Jumbo Supermarkets.
