French retailer E.Leclerc has reaffirmed its solidarity with dairy producers and said that it is open to any solution that will enable them to emerge from the current milk crisis in France.
The retailer is also looking to achieve a fair remuneration for producers. It says that the current law, which imposes more transparency on prices paid to producers, prevents the development of a relationship of trust between parties, and ultimately weighs on the producers.
Market Changes
Company CEO Michel-Edouard Leclerc said that "these agricultural crises are recurrent", and need to be managed through "better regulation".
The retailer is looking for the state to propose a secure economic and legal framework in order to achieve sustainable improvements in the income of producers.
It says that many tools are available to change the situation favourably, such as the operating conditions of the markets, international trade agreements, and the guidelines of the Common Agricultural Policy.
