The countdown is on for the next 'Sell More, Waste Less' workshop, hosted by the ECR Community Shrinkage & On-Shelf Availability Group and held at Hamburg's Kühne Logistics University on Thursday 7 June.
The workshop follows on from a successful seminar held in Prague late last year, which welcomed retail representatives involved in both day-to-day operations and supply chain, as well as food waste prevention experts and academics. Click here for a full report from this workshop, which featured in ESM Issue 1 - 2018.
ESM: European Supermarket Magazine has been confirmed as a media partner for the forthcoming workshop.
Industry Update
With just over a week to go to register, the agenda is shaping up well and promising to be an excellent learning and benchmarking opportunity on the stubborn problems of lost sales, out-of-stocks, food waste and markdowns.
Some 30+ delegates from retailers including Asda, Delhaize, Lidl, Tesco, Co-op, Carrefour, Waitrose, GS1 and the academic community will be joined on the day by an exciting new start-up that promises to add up to ten days of shelf life to certain fresh products, as well as Food Cloud, an organisation that connects stores to charities in order to redistribute the food from retail stores that would otherwise be thrown out.
Their perspectives will help bring additional insights to inform the round-table discussions on e-commerce food waste prevention, the use of bar/data-embedded codes to increase visibility in the system to the expiry date, etc. and markdowns.
Collaboration Maturity Model
In addition, the workshop will also examine the next iteration of the Collaboration Maturity Model research project.
One of the key purposes of this working-group meeting will be to define and agree the research that will be commissioned next as part of this project, so, ahead of the meeting, attendees are requested to give some thought to the areas in which ECR's research could specialise.
