El Corte Inglés has opened a new logistics centre near Barcelona, Expansión reports.
The 12,000-square-metre facility increases the group’s distribution capacity in Catalonia. The group opened the new facility in Les Franqueses del Vallès (Vallès Oriental), which adds to another centre it already operates in the region, in nearby Montornès del Vallès.
The new facility will help bolster El Corte Inglés distribution capacity in Catalonia.
El Corte Inglés isn’t the only retailer investing in the area, as many other firms have developed logistics centres in the greater Barcelona region in the past few months, including Mango, Massimo Dutti and Stradivarius, the paper reported.
This has contributed to a 93-per-cent increase in the number of logistics contracts in the area over the past year.
